In this photo Jack McKay is standing in front of NASA the NASA F-104B that’s now in the airpark of the Aerospace Museum of California. It was still registered as USAF 57-1303 in 1962 and for many more years, before going to civil registry as N819NA, “NASA 819”. It’s best known role was supporting the X-15 program, but it did far more. It’s actually the most historic aircraft in the museum’s airpark.
